Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships (Switzerland)
- Deadline: Deadlines are set by country. The official A to Z list shows 27 November 2026 for Nepal, with the call open from 20 August 2026. We read this from the published PDF extract, so check your country’s date on the SERI site.
- For: Research fellowships and PhD scholarships. Applicants need a Swiss academic supervisor, a completed master’s by 31 July 2027 (30 June 2027 for ETH Zurich) and must have been born after 31 December 1991.
- Funding: CHF 2,450 a month. Postdoctoral scholarships end from 2027/28 and the number of funded places falls to between 200 and 250 a year.
- Start: 1 September 2027.
Zonta International Amelia Earhart Fellowship
- Deadline: 15 November 2026 for the 2027 fellowship.
- For: Women of any nationality doing a PhD in aerospace engineering or space sciences, who will not finish before April 2028.
- Funding: Earlier cycles awarded US$10,000. We could not confirm the 2027 amount, so check Zonta’s page.
- How to apply: Through the online portal only. Applicants are told by the end of April.
Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s (Europe)
- Deadline: Each programme sets its own date. Most student deadlines fall between October and January for courses starting in the following academic year.
- What is new: The European Commission says 37 new Masters join the catalogue and open for applications in autumn 2026, for September 2027 starts.
- Funding: Scholarships cover participation costs and contribute to travel, visa and a living allowance, for full-time students for the whole programme (12, 18 or 24 months).
- For: Applicants with a bachelor’s degree, or in their final year, who will graduate before the master’s starts.

Start preparing: Gates Cambridge (UK)
Gates Cambridge applications for international applicants opened on 11 September 2026. The deadline is 8 December 2026 or 6 January 2027, depending on your course, so check the University of Cambridge course directory. November is the time to request references and draft your statement. Outcomes are due by 8 March 2027.
How to apply well
- Pick two or three programmes, not ten. Strong applications take time.
- Check English test requirements early. Many scholarships ask for a score such as PTE or IELTS.
- Collect documents now: transcripts, passport, references and a short CV.
