The NUS Young Fellowship Program, organized by NUS Graduate School and NUS School of Continuing and Lifelong Education (SCALE), returns for its second edition in June 2025. This month-long immersive experience invites outstanding young scholars from around the world to explore research and postgraduate opportunities at the National University of Singapore (NUS).

Why Join?

This program offers a unique platform to engage with world-class faculty, interact with peers, and experience academic excellence. Scholars will explore advanced research while gaining insights into AI and PhD research through a combination of in-person and online learning experiences.

Program Features

  • Theme: ‘AI and PhD Research’
  • Engaging one-week face-to-face lectures and workshops conducted by NUS professors and researchers
  • Three weeks of online tutorials and hands-on project presentations
  • Visits to cutting-edge research labs and Singapore’s iconic attractions
  • Complimentary on-campus accommodation
  • SGD 600 travel allowance (upon successful program completion)

Program Schedule

  • Application Deadline: 5 March 2025
  • Application Results: 15 March 2025
  • Program Duration:
    • On-site in Singapore: 23-27 June 2025
    • Online tutorials: 27 June – late July 2025
    • Final online presentation: Late July 2025

Selection Criteria

  • Academic Excellence – Senior undergraduates (Year 3 or above) with outstanding academic records.
  • Diversity – Candidates from a wide range of personal and professional backgrounds.
  • High Achievers – Individuals with exceptional accomplishments beyond academics.

Application Process

Required Materials:

  • CV (maximum two A4 pages)
  • Personal statement or reflective essay (up to 1,000 words)
    • Topic options:
      1. A research area of personal interest and its anticipated development
      2. A social issue of personal relevance and potential resolutions
  • Academic transcript (optional but recommended)
  • Two letters of recommendation (optional but encouraged)
  • Passport-size photo

  1. Access the Graduate Admission System (GDA3) to apply for the NUS Young Fellowship Program.
  2. Select:
    • ‘Non-Degree Program’
    • ‘Full-Time’
    • Enroll in ‘June 2025 Special Term’

  3. Upload the required documents and complete the application.
