A Timeline of Milestones

• 1891 – Founded as the School of Science and Art in High Wycombe.

• 1920 – Provided education for WWI veterans as Chepping Wycombe Technical Institute.

• 1963 – Expanded as the College of Further Education due to growing demand for technical education.

• 1975 – Merged with Newland Park College of Education, forming Buckinghamshire College of Further Education.

• 1989 – Became an independent Higher Education Corporation.

• 1995 – Acquired Missenden Abbey, a historic site enhancing our heritage.

• 1999 – Awarded University College status for excellence in teaching and research.

• 2007 – Granted full university title, becoming Buckinghamshire New University.

• 2009 – Expanded to Uxbridge, West London, supporting nursing education.
